Safety is very important when working with tools and engineering. Team 1710 takes pride in being an extremely safe and well organized team. We begin stressing safety during pre-build season by having the entire team take safety tests over machinery in the workshop, both on paper and in practice. We do not allow any team members who have not passed both tests to use the equipment. It is a requirement to wear safety glasses whenever working with any kind of machinery or the robot. At competition we hand out Safety buttons, and quizzes promoting safety in the pit. We also volunteered last year at the Oklahoma Regional to man the safety glass table. It is with constant vigilance during competitions that our Pit is kept in "safe" working order. Time is often limited between matches and people are in a hurry so the Safety Captain's job is to ensure that every on is adhering to good safety practices. This year we are introducing Charlie Caution to add with Bob Goggle in promoting safety.
