We're going to Nationals!!

After a grueling Saturday with its ups and downs alliance selections passed, our team was knocked out 1-2 after tough fought Quarterfinal matches and robot mishaps, and the awards ceremony began. Eagerly awaiting results after winning an Animation award the night before, the Underwriter's Laboratory Safety award rolled around and Team 1710 was announced as the victors. Citing things such as the safety book, our clean pit and our great safety captains (Karina H. and Jordan B.), Team 1710 is proud to bring home another Safety Award along with Thursday's Best Pit Safety Award. Watching one award after another we saw an alliance member win the Rookie All Star award(3528). We saw the regional finalists and winners march across the field shooting high five after high five and as the award ceremony came to the one award that was our last hope at going to Nationals. With Connor W., Alex S. and Robb W. talking off the ears of a wave of over 6 judges, we were optimistic about our Engineering Inspiration prospects. Citing summer camps, the fifth graders, girl scouts and, the one that had us leaping out of our seats, you go girl, Team 1710 is ecstatic about going to Nationals for the third time. Team 1710 is looking forward to a week or two off before Nationals preparation begins and the fun starts once more.

While we didn't advance past Quarterfinals, Team 1710 is proud of how Ahlgrenator and Bopptart did this year, we're looking forward to competing at Nationals.

Final Build Season Update

Scrapbook
Our team has decided on a new tactic for making the scrapbook this year. We decided to set up a day for students to each make a page for the scrapbook.

Website
The new website has been launched. While we missed the deadline and will not be judged, we are happy with the finished product.

Electrical
Our robot is completely wired and the line followers are working. We also have the blinking light on our robot working.

Mechanical
We are working on making spare parts for the robot. These include a spare mini-bot and an extra grabber.

Spirit
The speaker box is about to be painted. We are making a ton of buttons.

Programming
Autonomous is fully functioning using line sensors on the straight line path. It has not yet failed to work since it has been completed.

Animation
We are working on decals. All of the animations are complete.

Programming
We got the CAN feature working. We are starting new test code on the robot.

Mechanical
We are working on mini-bot deployment. The robot is finished.

CAD
We are drawing the mini-bot. We are wiring the electrical board.

Electrical
We have finished electrical. We are troubleshooting.

Animation
Everything has been rendered. We are now compiling everything.

Graphic Design
We are making button designs for the website. We are working on the pit banner and showcase slideshow.

Business Plan
We are nearing our final draft on our business plan. We have completed six drafts.

Sponsorship
We have made sponsor calls following up to the letters we have sent to the sponsors. We have received good results.

Website
We are done with the framework of the website. We are almost done getting content.

Video
We are starting to film the narration of the chairman’s video. We are setting up post-production templates.

Logistics
The scoring grid and tower are finished. We are thinking about adding a feeding slot.

Graphic Design
We are currently working on the welcome screen and other designs for the website. Button designs are finished and we are now making the buttons.

Spirit
Speaker box sanding was just completed. It is now ready for fiber glassing.

Video
The rough draft of the script is complete. Graphics work is coming along nicely.

Website
We have completed the website framework and we are incorporating content. We are on Schedule.

Awards
Revisions are continually taking place on the Chairman's Award; it's looking good. We are now starting research on both the Dean's List and Woodie Flower recipients so that we may begin those essays as well.

Programming
We have finished programming the drive system and the arm up and down for the robot. We are currently working on line-followers for the autonomous period.

Mechanical
All of the wheels have been attached to the robot. We are now trying to finish the mini-bot.

Electrical
We are finishing the new electrical board. We are working with pneumatics to finish Getting the pneumatics wired.

CAD
We are mounting the wheels and the mini-bot deployment. All the parts of the robot that have been completed by the mechanical team have been drawn.

Business Planning
We are organizing the business plan. It will contain all the information so far and will be the most up-to-date version.

Animation
We are finishing the final rigs for the character. We are animating the first scene with Iiko and starting the sound.

Business Plan
We have finished the first draft. We are under revision to better improve our chances for the Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers Entrepreneurship Award.

Electrical
We are setting up a test pneumatics system. And working on making sure the electrical all fits within the design.

Programming
We recently completed coding for the swerve drive. We are currently looking for a method to align the robot during autonomous.

Animation
We have been modifying the script. We have done part of the concept art and storyboard.

Graphic Design
We are getting the safety T-shirt design finished. The speaker box design is done and we are brainstorming designs for buttons.

Logistics
We have begun constructing the practice field. We have finished all the towers and are currently working on the scoring grid.

CAD
We are designing the claw and the mini-bot. We are working on the fork-lift design.

Mechanical
We are working on the claw. We are ordering parts so that we are ready to work when they come.

Awards
We have the first draft of the chairman's essay done. We are in the process of revising it.

Spirit
Our new speaker box is in progress. More team members means a louder team and more spirit.

Video
Video production is in the process of interviewing key leaders and filming B-roll. Intro and outro graphics are also being developed.

Website
The Website team has been studiously working on the website this year. We are a meeting or two from finishing the front page and are excited for the prospects of this year's website.
